Responsibilities

Leverage Carta’s proprietary tax engine to file tax returns for our Venture Capital clients
Collaborate with our wider Carta accounting, fund administration and compliance teams on relevant tax issues that relate to Carta’s products and services
Help clients realize their ambitions of supporting the companies of tomorrow through our next-gen investment stack
Work on wider team projects which are not directly tax-related (e.g. legal, financial)
Navigate complex tax structures and documentation in relation to investment vehicles
Communicate effectively and multitask to meet multiple deadlines

Qualification

Required

Extensive, hands-on experience with the complete partnership compliance cycle
Specific expertise in partner-level international reporting (Schedules K-2/K-3)
Reporting on controlled foreign entities (Forms 5471, 8865, 8858)
Transaction reporting and passive investments (Forms 926 and 8621)
Foreign withholding and reporting regimes (Forms 1042/1042-S, 8804/8805)
Foreign financial asset reporting (Form 8938 and FBAR)
Foreign Ownership reporting (Form 5472)
Understanding of US international tax filings relating to investment vehicles
High attention to detail: written and quantitative
Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to multitask to meet multiple deadlines

Preferred

Passionate and knowledgeable about venture capital
Excited to work on wider team projects which are not directly tax-related
Interested in working on projects in a fast-paced environment with a supportive team
