The Basic Education for Adults Intern is responsible for completing tasks aligned with the intern’s academic and career goals, including data entry, student outreach, and supporting students in developing English skills.

Responsibilities

Complete tasks in alignment with the intern’s academic and career goals within the scope of the BEdA department and partner departments within the college as applicable and appropriate
This may include data entry, student outreach, supporting students at the front desk, collaborating or shadowing navigators, the data specialist, or associate dean, and working directly with Adult Basic Education or English Language Acquisition students with developing English skills in various capacities
Specific tasks may also be assigned by the BEdA Program Specialist, navigators, data specialist, or associate dean
The specific duties will be determined and outlined in the internship contract developed with the intern and the associate dean

Required

High school graduate, GED, or equivalent
Successful completion of a criminal history background check
Must be a current TCC student
Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
A commitment to serving diverse student populations including English language learners
Openness to learning and following new skills, processes, procedures, and systems
Skilled ability to follow written and oral directions
Fluency with Microsoft Outlook and Word
