Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) - Full-Time School Day - Brooklyn, NY

Knowledge Road is hiring a full-time Mental Health Counselor to support the mental health and academic success of students in Brooklyn. This role involves providing psychological services, collaborating with school teams, and addressing various emotional and behavioral challenges faced by students.

Responsibilities

Deliver direct, high-quality individual and group counseling services for students, as required by their Individualized Education Service Programs/Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP)
Address a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other complex psychological conditions
Perform psychological assessments and evaluations to guide treatment planning and educational recommendations
Create and execute evidence-based treatment plans using various therapeutic modalities customized to the unique developmental and cultural needs of each individual student
Work closely with parents, teachers, school administrators, and other mental health practitioners to build a holistic and supportive learning environment
Keep detailed and timely documentation of all services, progress, and results per DOE regulations, HIPAA requirements, and Knowledge Road standards
Take an active role in IESP/IEP meetings, providing expert psychological insights and recommendations to support student progress and educational planning

Qualification

Licensed Mental Health CounselorMaster's degree in CounselingPsychological assessmentsElectronic documentation systemsTeletherapy platformsChildAdolescent therapyBilingual proficiencyExperience in school settings

Required

Valid NYS license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or related field
At least 2 years of experience providing psychological services for children and adolescents
Competence with electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms
NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to obtain before start date

Preferred

Experience in school-based settings or educational environment
Specialized training in child and adolescent therapy modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, play therapy, family therapy)
Experience conducting psychological assessments and testing
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages prevalent in Brooklyn schools
