Responsibilities

Learn and use building codes and design codes, performing hand calculations and using commercially available finite element analysis software such as ANSYS
Create engineering design calculation packages that considers factors like static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses. Evaluate the durability of structural components for low and high cycle fatigue
Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software
Prepare reports and presentations on design and analysis work. Help review and improve structural material selection and structural component specifications
Participate in reviews to ensure designs are safe and operable
Other duties as assigned

Required

Current student pursuing B.S, or M.S, in Civil Engineering or related field
Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of classroom setting through laboratory, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience
Experience in CAD software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office application (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Self-starter, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with highly collaborative team
Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues

Preferred

Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of classroom setting through laboratory, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience is highly preferred
Experience in SolidWorks preferred
Experience in explicit dynamics is a plus
Experienced with scripting such as Python, Excel Macro is a plus
