Fish Hatchery Engineer - Civil / Mechanical / Structural

Responsibilities
Develop plans and specifications for bidding and construction documents of new and renovations to existing fish hatcheries and aquaculture facilities
Develop designs to meet industry standards and federal and local codes, laws, and regulations, including development of engineering calculations, technical memoranda, reports, alternative development and evaluation, feasibility analysis, and long-term planning documents
Communicate with and solicit input from owners, operations and maintenance staff, regulatory agencies, construction contractors, subconsultants, and other stakeholders through meetings, presentations, and direct communication. Communication will include development of and assistance with PowerPoint presentations, figures, conceptual drawings, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes
Analyze existing and design new water supply, drainage and treatment systems, open channel conveyance systems, pressurized and open channel pipe networks, raw water intakes, site layouts, building function, concrete and earthen holding and rearing ponds and raceways, RAS and PRAS systems, pump stations, pollution abatement and settling ponds, and sorting, handling, storage, and mechanical/electrical buildings, as aligns with your technical experience
Support development of cost estimates at planning, conceptual, preliminary, and final design phases
Direct and guide work of CAD staff in the development of bid and construction drawings
Provide engineering support during construction, including review of submittals, response to RFIs, and review and development of contract modifications
Support project managers in the development of scopes of work and fee proposals
Support senior engineers and marketing staff in the development of proposals
Perform other duties as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
Previous experience in general civil engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Good verbal and written communication skills
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred
5-10 years of experience
Master's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering
NCEES registration
Extensive experience in the design, layout, and evaluation of fish hatcheries and aquaculture facilities
Experience developing or incorporating bio-security, bio-programming, and RAS/PRAS
Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks
Experience working with BIM software (Revit and Civil 3D)
Local residence or willing to relocate
