QUOTATION ENGINEER / ESTIMATOR - CNC MACHINING

They are seeking a Quotation Engineer/Estimator who will develop accurate and competitive quotations for complex manufacturing projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities
Review RFQs, engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, specifications, and technical documentation from clients and potential clients across multiple industries including aerospace, defense, power generation, rail, mining, etc
Analyze project scope and manufacturing requirements to develop detailed cost and time estimates, including labor, materials, machining, finishing, inspection and subcontract processes such as paint, coating, heat treatment, etc
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, procurement, and operations to ensure accurate and feasible quotations
Ensure quotes meet customer requirements and comply with AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and other applicable standards or flow-downs
Prepare formal quotation packages, including pricing, delivery lead time, technical clarifications, and risk assessments
Participate in pre-award customer discussions, bid reviews, and cost justification meetings
Track quote activity and maintain customer contacts and milestones
Support pricing strategies for long-term agreements, blanket orders, and high-volume or legacy programs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent technical background
3–5+ years of experience in a precision machining environment, preferably supporting aerospace and/or defense programs
Deep understanding of CNC machining, multi-axis milling and turning, tight tolerance work, and complex assemblies
Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, MIL-SPECs, and customer-specific requirements
Knowledge of aerospace materials (e.g., titanium, Inconel, aluminum alloys) and associated machining challenges
Familiarity with quoting tools, ERP/MRP systems, and cost estimation practices
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Preferred
Prior experience quoting for OEMs or Tier 1 aerospace/defense contractors (e.g., Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Boeing, Northrop Grumman)
Working knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and NADCAP requirements
CAD/CAM experience (SolidWorks, Mastercam, or similar)
Understanding of contract review, risk management, and compliance requirements
Desire to develop technologies (machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc.) and tools to advance the quotation process speed and accuracy
