Radiology Engineer / Biomedical Engineering

Responsibilities

Support the medical imaging needs of the HHC System by performing and overseeing the equipment service and maintenance of diagnostic imaging systems, through equipment evaluation, technology assessment, site planning and project management
Responsible for the education and training for both technical and professional staff (on equipment use and features). Reports to the Radiology Engineering Manager, Biomedical Engineering
Provides primary and “1st Pass” service to medical imaging technology (i.e., ultrasound, CT, radiology, nuclear medicine, digital radiography (DR), mammography, etc.) and other modalities as needed
Develops and maintains appropriate procedures for capturing relevant equipment and productivity data through departmental and hospital systems; maintain backup procedures for information management systems
Investigate medical device-related incidents to determine causes and propose/implement preventative measures
Develop policies to meet all medical equipment regulations (i.e., Safe Medical Device Act, etc.)
Coordinate medical device-related recalls and alerts

Required

Minimum of 5 years medical imaging service experience in multiple modalities (i.e., Computerized Tomography, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, Digital Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, etc.)
Work effectively as a team member within the area and with customers to provide quality services to hospital units through communication, cooperation and collaboration
The Radiology Engineer will promote radiation safety and identify and resolve exposure quality issues in Radiology
Associates degree required with certification in discipline, BS degree preferred. May be substituted with Military Training in Biomedical or Diagnostic Imaging
Demonstrate excellent managerial, communication, organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills; able to work independently but also as part of a team
