Responsibilities
Provide advice, counsel, and representation to domestic violence survivors, focusing on legal matters that are essential for achieving financial stability
Address issues such as landlord/tenant disputes, consumer law, family law, and public benefits
Work on-site at the Women In Distress domestic violence shelter three days a week and at the main office in Broward County for the remaining two days
Manage a large and diverse caseload, providing direct legal services to those in need
Qualification
Required
Active membership in the Florida State Bar is required
Experience serving low-income individuals
Experience in landlord/tenant, consumer, family law, and/or public benefits law is essential
A demonstrable awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve
A strong commitment to being a passionate and aggressive advocate for our clients
Ability to manage a demanding caseload and maintain professionalism in a highly stressful environment
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, including attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners
Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills
Ability to work constructively with a diverse group of colleagues and clients
Preferred
Ability to speak more than one language is a significant plus
