Responsibilities
Design and Drafting: Design, prepare, and oversee the development of comprehensive roadway plans utilizing Bentley’s Open Roads Designer software. Verify that all designs align with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Construction Documentation Preparation: Prepare, review, and modify detailed construction documents, technical reports, specifications, and accurate cost estimates for various projects, confirming thoroughness and clarity
Quality Assurance: Conduct technical reviews and implement DEA’s quality assurance and quality control procedures, maintaining high standards throughout the project lifecycle
Site Engagement: Actively participate in project meetings and conduct site visits and field inspections as necessary to maintain project alignment with design specifications and client goals
Post-Design Support: Provide critical post-design construction support services, addressing contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), conducting submittal reviews, assisting in as-built preparation, and performing field observations to maintain design integrity during construction
Project Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with project teams on all aspects of project execution, including project set-up, drafting, design, quality review, and project coordination and organization
Issue Resolution and Coordination: Proactively resolve project design issues, facilitate project coordination, and maintain positive relationships with clients and team members to promote a collaborative working environment
Leadership and Mentoring: Plan, lead, and mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and supporting them in delivering high-quality project contributions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Utah
A minimum of 10+ years of experience in transportation design
Strong ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred
Expertise in Open Roads Designer for effective project execution
Extensive UDOT project delivery experience including traditional Design Bid Build and or Progressive Design Build
