Responsibilities
Provides assessments of technical and operational practices based on leading industry standards specific to the requested technology
Plans, organizes, and conducts research in a variety of areas, such as new or existing products, science, social science, law or business in support of an IT initiative
Searches sources such as reference works, literature, documents, newspapers, statistical records, and other sources of information. May use Internet, Intranet, magazines, periodicals, journals, and other media to perform research
Analyzes information and statistical data to prepare reports and studies for use by professionals
Qualification
Required
At least five years of experience working at a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)
Experience working with LMR radio system, software, and programs
Experience in designing / testing radio code plugs
Experience validating radio and system performance
Experience evaluating new communication devices
Technical work in the field of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and wireless communications system engineering, design, and implementation
Program review and compliance with licensing regulations
Requirements gathering and design review
Change management and final acceptance of systems
RoIP system engineering and radio code plug design / programming
Conducting short and long-term planning to meet communications requirements
Performing hardware / software analysis to provide comparative data of performance characteristics and suitability within the existing systems environment
Support Motorola subscriber radio update and tracking efforts
Develop agency codeplugs
Support / complete agency programming requests
Manage / coordinate encryption and OTAR upgrades
Develop radio training material for internal and external users
Develop technical guidelines for radio use
Develop In-Building approval criteria for In-Building Wireless (IBW)
Review IBW proposals for compliance
Perform field surveys of new and existing BDA installations
Troubleshoot IBW network interference issues
Investigate IBW network coverage issues
Support OUC radio operations
Master's degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience
Preferred
P25 radio network: 3 years
Knowledge of public safety communications, interoperability: 3 years
11-15. yrs as SME in complex enterprise level projects: 10 years
Master's degree in IT or related field: 6 years
Working in a PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point): 5 years
Interoperable radio: 3 years
Land Mobile Radio: 3 years
Radio network coverage and interference analysis: 3 years
RF engineering tools: 3 years
Developing fleetmaps, code plugs: 2 years
Programming radios for public safety: 2 years
Managing Motorola User Configuration Manager: 3 years
