Responsibilities
Clears away litter from around buildings and parking lots
Responsible for fertilization and application of control materials to turf and shrubbery beds
Prepares seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil
Plants trees, seeds and bulbs
Maintains all ornamental and flower beds
Prunes trees and trims hedges
Mows lawns
Connects sprinkling equipment and waters lawn and flower beds
Shovels snow and spread sand and salt
Operates snow removal equipment, plow trucks, salt trucks, as well as walk-behind and ride tractors with snowplows and/or snow blowers attached
Cleans roofs, roof drains and tunnel, as needed
Repairs blacktop roadway, as needed
Maintains shop, vehicles, and equipment
Completes daily time report at end of shift
Performs minor repairs/services in different trades as needed

Qualification
Required
Ability to select and use tools appropriate for the job to be performed
Good oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position
High school graduation or equivalent is required
Able to use common hand tools
Must work in extreme temperatures
Noisy, dusty, dirty conditions
Potential exposure to various contaminants
Protective gear worn; face masks, goggles, work gloves
Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
Pushes, pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
