MIM - Associate - Residential Credit

The Investment Associate, Residential Credit will oversee portfolio management of residential investments, focusing on maximizing asset returns and improving operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities
Proactive oversight of Mortgage Servicing Vendors with the goals of:
Growing/strengthening relationships
Solving cash or data-related problems as they arise
Probing for operational improvements on the servicing of our portfolio, and primarily
Maximizing asset return via oversight on default servicing for distressed loans, REO, and post-liquidation collection opportunities
Assist with regular cyclical portfolio operational tasks with an eye toward efficiency, detail-orientation and automation for tasks such as:
Trade settlement, and repurchases
Asset pledging and data circulation to downstream vendors
Portfolio pricing and valuations
Remittance processing and accounting
Assess portfolio performance relative to trade date expectations
Build reporting needed for internal operations or form client request with clarity and professionalism
Support senior management with client data deliverables
Understand market participants, technical price patterns, and alternative return strategies
Develop investment and cash flow models as needed to evaluate investment opportunities
Price various forms of credit risk using proprietary models
Seek ways to scale investment process
Qualification
Required
Technical skills in SQL and Microsoft Office are necessary, with Python or Residential Credit Modelling experience a plus
Meaningful understanding of residential mortgage servicing
Understanding of fixed income and residential mortgage credit
Understanding of diverse Residential Mortgage asset subtypes including NonQM, GSE RPL, RTL, BPL, Cross-Collateral, and post-liquidation deficiency
Ability to methodically solve problems and quantify solutions
Experience working in a result-oriented environment with multiple competing deadlines
Strong skills related to data manipulation and analysis along with communication and presentation skills that can tailor both technical and non-technical audiences
Knowledge of financial concepts including but not limited to financial statements, fixed income investments, credit risk, swaps and other derivatives
Preferred
Undergraduate degree or higher
2+ years of work experience in mortgage or ABS investments that emphasize quantitative methods and structuring
