Providing surgical care to patients within the operating room under the supervision of perioperative nurses and surgeons

Utilizing and following AORN's Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices and AST Standards of Practice as a reference to ensure quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care

Qualification

Surgical Technology CertificationBasic Life Support CertificationMedical Technician RegistrationAORN Standards KnowledgeTeam Collaboration

Required

Graduate from an accredited Certificate or Associate Degree program and Surgical Technology

Surgical Technology Certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within 1 year of hire is required

Medical Technician registration within 3 months of hire is required

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association
