Vitruvian Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist Extern to assist in surgical duties and support registered nurses in caring for surgical patients. The role involves demonstrating knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical instrumentation, and providing appropriate care based on patient age.

Responsibilities

Assists in surgical technologist duties for surgical cases and assists the registered nurse in caring for the surgical patient with supervision at all times
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills of aseptic techniques
Must demonstrate knowledge of surgical instrumentation, supplies and equipment
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient being served

Aseptic techniquesSurgical instrumentationCPR certificationMedical terminologyManual dexterityBasic typing skillsCustomer service skills

Required

High school graduate or certified equivalent
Must be in academic good standing and enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist Degree program
Must have successfully completed the 1st semester of the program
CPR required
Manual dexterity to handle multitude of OR instruments
Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients' needs that are age appropriate
Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patient served
Basic typing and computer skills
Telephone etiquette and customer service skills

Preferred

Prior experience in same or similar position is desirable
Background in medical related field preferred
Medical terminology preferred
