Responsibilities
Substitute teachers are called in on an as-needed basis and must be flexible with their availability. The schedule may vary depending on the specific needs of the school
Must be able to work the full school day from 7:45am to 3:45pm
Implement the daily lesson plans provided by the teacher for the assigned grade level
Create and maintain a positive, structured learning environment
Hold students to high academic and behavior standards consistent with The Pingry School Mission and Honor Code
Support students during class time, transitions, meals, recess time, and other learning opportunities that may be assigned to the substitute educator
Collaborate with other teachers to ensure a safe environment for all students
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree is required; however, we will also consider candidates currently pursuing an educational degree, particularly those in their senior year
Enthusiasm for working with students
Experience working with high school-aged students
Ability to follow instructions and execute lesson plans with little preparation time
Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty
Comfort with incorporating the latest technology into your workflow, including Google Classroom and Veracross
Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.)
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the department and school community, including working hours based upon the school's rotating schedule
Commitment to the mission, vision, and pillars of the Pingry School, including a commitment to DEIB and the requisite skills to work cross-functionally with diverse constituency groups across the organization
Preferred
A Master's degree and previous classroom teaching experience are preferred
