Carlow University is currently seeking an experienced surgical technologist to teach clinical and lab courses in the Associate of Science Degree in Surgical Technology Program. The Part-Time Surgical Technology Faculty Member will play a vital role in preparing students for successful careers in the surgical technology field by teaching and supervising students in clinical and lab settings.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

On site supervise and guide students during clinical rotations in various healthcare facilities
Provide hands-on instruction in surgical technology labs, focusing on aseptic techniques, instrumentation, and procedural protocols
Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development
Deliver course content aligned with program outcomes and standards
Utilize various teaching strategies to engage students and address diverse learning styles
Collaborate with the program coordinator to ensure the curriculum meets current industry standards
Serve as a mentor to students, fostering their professional growth and confidence
Conduct evaluations of student competencies in lab and clinical settings
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and program improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with program standards and institutional policies
Communicate effectively with clinical site personnel to maintain positive working relationships

Qualification

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)Clinical operating room experienceTeaching experienceSurgical technology knowledgeMentorship skills

Required

Associate of Science Degree in Surgical Technology is required
Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required
Have a minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical operating room experience as a surgical technologist

Preferred

Bachelor of Science Degree is preferred
Have previous teaching or instructional experience in a surgical technology program within the past five years is preferred
