Responsibilities
Own concrete outcomes by building and rolling out technical and functional products and features
Ensure all deliverables adhere to the timelines, quality, and performance requirements
Build, nurture, and grow the engineering team to deliver relevant features and capabilities, while helping them grow their career at PayPal
Be constantly involved in the growth of team members and provide regular and constructive feedback and coaching as needed. Handle performance management, hiring and talent development processes
Provide technical guidance and assistance to other software engineers
Apply best of class coding and design standards
Identify areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities
Qualification
Required
Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related area
8+ years of experience in software design, development and architecture
Led a team of at least 8 engineers for more than 3 years
Applied software quality tools and processes successfully for your teams
Delivered projects using agile methodologies
Designed and implemented high-traffic front or backend services
Worked in projects using SQL and NoSQL solutions
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Very strong verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills
Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly
You have coached engineers, advocated good coding practices, processed adherence and continuous improvement in these areas
Been in a project requiring you to effectively collaborate with remote teams across geographies and time zones
Preferred
Preferably worked in a payments or finance-related industry before
