Financial Capabilities Intern (unpaid)
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a major international humanitarian organization that responds to crises around the world. They are seeking a Financial Capabilities Intern to support their financial education program, which aims to enhance financial literacy and provide coaching to participants. The intern will engage in one-on-one coaching, conduct workshops, and develop relationships with financial institutions.

Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one financial coaching and counseling for clients
Conduct financial management intakes and surveys for all clients
Track client meetings and progress in spreadsheet and through case noting on ETO software
Facilitate monthly financial literacy/education workshops for clients
Develop database of financial resources for clients
Work in conjunction with the Economic Empowerment specialist to develop relationships with financial institutions and organizations providing financial services in NYC
Communicate effectively in person and by telephone
Collaborate with other IRC in NY programs as necessary
Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy
Qualification
Required
Experience in providing coaching or counseling services, preferably in personal financial management
Experience working with immigrants or refugees in a social service setting
Must have good written and verbal English language skills
Ability to fluently speak at least one of the following languages (Farsi/Dari, Arabic, Spanish, French, Burmese, Mandarin, Russian, Urdu) preferred
Must be willing to work varied hours
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Access and Word, E-mail)
Ability to pass a background check
Adhere to professional standards of confidentiality and boundary-setting
