Responsibilities

Become the system-level expert on new products, collaborating closely with Hardware, Electrical, Controls, Process, and Software Engineering teams
Guide engineering during product design to reflect customer needs, including design-for-serviceability, manufacturability, and preventive maintenance tasks
Lead the first tool build and test in the development lab, providing real-time feedback and driving issue resolution
Create procedures and best-known methods for service, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance
Oversee First-in-Fab (Alpha and Beta) customer shipments, driving fab readiness, installation, start-up, and production qualification
Document and report field issues clearly and comprehensively, ensuring timely root-cause analysis and closure
Develop critical spare parts lists and ensure stocking levels are ready for product launch
Apply technical depth across electromechanical schematics, electro-pneumatic controls, robotics, microprocessor controllers, and basic software concepts
Supervise safety procedures, contribute to instruction development, and train technical teams
Map process variables to device physics and design small DOEs to validate tool performance
Select appropriate diagnostic techniques based on accuracy and sample constraints; troubleshoot instrumentation
Lead multi-tool fault isolation, using statistical controls to validate corrective actions
Align customer needs with design constraints and prepare multi-fab upgrade proposals
Analyze tool data to anticipate maintenance needs, negotiate maintenance windows, and drive escalations to closure

Required

Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, or a Master's degree and 4+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
Strong hands-on experience with hardware, electromechanical systems, or complex system-level equipment
Proven troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, controls, robotics, or microprocessor-based systems
Experience supervising safety procedures, developing work instructions, or training teams
Ability to analyze technical data using statistical tools such as SPC charts
High motivation, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning new technologies
Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25–75%

Preferred

Experience with Alpha/Beta tool introduction or new product introduction (NPI)
Background in designing DOEs or applying device physics in problem solving
Experience diagnosing instrumentation or using advanced diagnostic tools
Experience preparing upgrade proposals or partnering directly with customer engineering teams
Familiarity with Arduino or similar prototyping platforms
Experience developing documentation or leading hands-on technical training
