Intern - Fisheries Management (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking a Fisheries Management Intern for the summer session. The intern will work with the team responsible for managing aquatic resources, gaining experience in fish population surveys, fisheries research, and public outreach events.

Responsibilities
Receive training and experience with fish population surveys, fisheries research studies, aquatic habitat and fishing access projects, aquatic invasive species surveys, and public information, outreach and education events
Operation and maintenance of various netting gears (trap nets, gill nets, seines, etc.)
Electrofishing
Operation and maintenance of boats, boat motors, trailers and vehicles
Data recording and procedures associated with watercraft inspection and decontamination
Opportunity to work with regional law enforcement, game management and wildlife habitat programs
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
