Intern - Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Intern for the summer session. The intern will assist the Employment Skills Instructor in teaching techniques related to vocational training and skills for individuals with vision loss, focusing on improving their independence through adaptive skills and computer skills training.

Responsibilities
Assist the Employment Skills Instructor with teaching techniques related to work
Teach computer skills such as answering programming questions for Microsoft Office or typing skills
Assist in the adaptive skills of blindness areas to assist individuals with vision loss to improve independence
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
The candidate needs to have computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Preferred
Preference will be given to South Dakota residents and students of South Dakota institutions
Consideration will be given to those with specific coursework in the following areas: rehabilitation counseling, special education, social work, psychology, counseling, adult education, and/or knowledge of blindness or disabilities
Experience working with people with disabilities is beneficial, but not required
All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
