Great Bay Community College is seeking a Diesel Heavy Equipment Technology Faculty member to educate students and participate in departmental activities. The role involves teaching program-related courses, preparing instructional materials, overseeing student progress, and engaging with the industry to support the program.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Teaches program-related courses in a classroom, online, and/or laboratory setting in the Diesel Heavy Equipment Technology program. Such courses include Hydraulics I, Hydraulics II, Failure Analysis, Heavy Duty Chassis Brake and Climate Control Systems, and other courses as assigned
Prepares instructional materials that integrate theory with applications and clearly outline course and program goals and requirements and comply with established course content
Establishes sound classroom practices and management that respond to diverse academic needs and maintain accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs
Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations
Oversees student learning activities and academic progress and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments. Consults with and interprets these to students
Participates in departmental activities and supports departmental operations by attending meetings, maintaining educational equipment and spaces, preparing requisitions for instructional equipment, supplies or classroom materials, participating in course and program reviews, contributing to departmental initiatives, and maintaining contact with business and industry within the field of diesel heavy equipment technology
Participates in college-sponsored recruitment and retention activities by attending admissions events, student orientations, award ceremonies, and/or advising student activity groups
Remains current within the field of diesel heavy equipment technology through participation in relevant professional associations and educational and training activities. Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations/communication
Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior
Serves on college or system committees, as assigned
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, business, education, or related discipline. Possession of a Bachelor's degree in education shall require an Associate's degree in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, or closely related discipline
Three years of teaching experience in the diesel heavy equipment technology field or three years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of heavy equipment mechanics
Associates degree from a regionally accredited college or technical school with major study in diesel heavy equipment technology, mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, business, general education, or related discipline
Five years of teaching experience in the diesel heavy equipment technology field or five years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of heavy equipment mechanics
Valid driver's license
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, business, education, or related discipline. Possession of a Bachelor's degree in education shall require an Associate's degree in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, or closely related discipline
Four years of teaching experience in the diesel heavy equipment technology field or four years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of heavy equipment mechanics
Associates degree from a regionally accredited college or technical school with major study in diesel heavy equipment technology, mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, business, general education, or related discipline
Six years of teaching experience in the diesel heavy equipment technology field or six years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of heavy equipment mechanics
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, business, education, or related discipline. Possession of a Bachelor's degree in education shall require an Associate's degree in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, or closely related discipline
Six years of teaching experience in the diesel heavy equipment technology field or six years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of heavy equipment mechanics
Associates degree from a regionally accredited college or technical school with major study in diesel heavy equipment technology, mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, business, general education, or related discipline
Eight years of teaching experience in the diesel heavy equipment technology field or eight years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of heavy equipment mechanics
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, business, education, or related discipline. Possession of a Bachelor's degree in education shall require an Associate's degree in mechanical technology, automotive technology, engineering, or closely related discipline
Seven years of teaching experience in the diesel heavy equipment technology field, two years of which shall have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration, or seven years of business or industry experience directly related to the field of heavy equipment mechanics, two years of which shall have been in the supervision of personnel or program/project administration

Preferred

Valid commercial driver's license
Experience in hydraulics system application and diagnostics
