Responsibilities

Assist in reviewing project plans, blueprints, and specifications to understand the scope of work and project requirements

Learn to quantify materials, labor, equipment, and other resources required for construction projects, contributing to accurate cost estimates

Engage with vendors and suppliers to gather pricing information, negotiate quotes, and assess the feasibility of potential materials and services

Work alongside experienced estimators to develop comprehensive project budgets, considering various cost factors and contingencies

Gain insights into tracking and analyzing project costs throughout the lifecycle, helping to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records

Learn to perform quantity takeoffs, measuring and calculating quantities of materials needed for different aspects of construction

Assist in analyzing historical cost data and industry benchmarks to inform cost estimates and provide valuable insights for decision-making

Participate in the preparation of bids and proposals, helping to compile accurate and competitive bid packages

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and architects, to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates

Engage in learning opportunities to enhance your knowledge of construction cost estimation methodologies and tools

Required

Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field

Familiarity with construction terminology, methods, and materials

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools

Capability to analyze project plans, specifications, and data to support accurate cost estimation

Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders

Skill in managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Willingness to learn and apply problem-solving techniques to address estimation challenges

Ability to work well within a team, actively participating in discussions and sharing insights

Openness to learning new concepts and adjusting to shifting priorities inherent to construction

Demonstrated professionalism, including punctuality, reliability, and a positive work ethic
