Mammography Technologist

MRI Associates is seeking a Mammography Technologist to operate mammography equipment and provide excellent patient care. The role involves creating diagnostic images, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining equipment while collaborating closely with radiologists.

Responsibilities

Operate imaging equipment in order to provide high quality images of every angle/section of the body that must be assessed for patient diagnosis
Address patient concerns during the procedure, and explain the mammography process to the patient in a way that is informative, but also reassuring
Use tact, courtesy and poise when dealing with patients, keeping them calm and ensuring that they receive the best care possible. Refrain from commenting on images observed and assure the patient that their physician will communicate the diagnostic findings
Ensure all patient images are accurately uploaded to the picture archiving and communication (PACS) system in a timely manner; identifying those that may have critical issues so they may be immediately read and reported to referring physicians
Conduct mammography equipment assessment to ensure equipment is operating properly to avoid downtime or delays that affect imaging quality and patient satisfaction
Ensure patient safety by pre-screening for any contra-indications before the procedure
Provide training to new technologists with regular checks, direction and qualified work examples performed by an experienced team member
Handle interactions in a calm manner when dealing with patients, technologists and physicians
Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Required

Certificate, diploma, or associate's degree leading to appropriate certifications in Mammography
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Mammography Technologist in clinical environments such as diagnostic imaging centers, hospitals and radiographic units
ARRT (R) (M)
Current Florida State License in Radiography – Mammography
Maintain licenses and certifications as required
Ability to use medical imaging processing software/equipment
Ability to learn radiology information systems (RIS), electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and picture archiving and communications (PAC) systems for radiology imaging facilities
Knowledge of human anatomy for diagnosis purposes and the ability to identify potential critical imaging results for escalation purposes
Understanding of and adherence to quality control standards
Customer service focus – ability to relate with people of diverse backgrounds, and provide excellent customer service and solutions to problems
Promote teamwork by working collaboratively with colleagues and management to achieve shared goals
Ability to work calmly when dealing with patients, radiologists and physicians
Attention to detail
Sense of urgency and time management skills
Professional and efficient verbal and written communications
Demonstrate sound judgement and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations
Ability to work independently, prioritize and perform several tasks at once without losing concentration
Ability to work harmoniously with radiologists
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards; including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards, and maintaining regular in-person punctual attendance
Medium physical effort. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time
Requires lifting and bending to properly position equipment and patients for diagnostic exams
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone and in person with co-workers, patients, customers and other visitors
