Responsibilities

You will provide trusted advice and counsel to the Individual Retirement & Life businesses of Corebridge Financial working on all aspects of legal support for fixed and indexed life insurance and annuities: product manufacturing including research and development, distribution and marketing, administration and call center support and compliance with state and federal law
This includes drafting and review of various types of Reinsurance and reinsurance related agreements, advising on all disclosure and conflict of interest practices, supporting due diligence activities as well as insurance regulatory, legislative and compliance matters
This position provides a mix of support of our in-force book of business, as well as strategic and innovative initiatives designed to profitably grow our business
The role includes general contract review, contract drafting and negotiation in relation to ordinary course transactions and business initiatives, drafting of policies and procedures in relation to corporate and business unit initiatives, support of state legislation tracking and related matters, and special projects
You will work collaboratively with peers across Legal, Compliance and other control functions to ensure philosophical consistencies of approach and practice across diverse business lines, areas of legal practice and legal entities
Maintain and grow in-depth knowledge of the business and its activities in order to ensure adequate legal oversight and resources as the business needs evolve over time; advise on emerging legal issues
Provide recommendations as to early dispute resolutions in an effort to avoid litigation

Required

Minimum of 10 years of experience as a lawyer in the life and annuity, reinsurance field, in house and/or private practice, a focus on annuities, life insurance and related regulatory issues
Strategic thinking to plan, organize, manage to and execute to achieve organic growth and change
Proven verbal and written communications skills aimed at delivering direct messaging and achieving collaborative and practical results
Self-starter with a 'can-do' attitude and the ability to meet and exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment
Ability to work on matters requiring focus, attention to detail and execution
Proven problem-solving skills that demonstrate creativity and commitment to core values
Demonstrated ability to balance thoughtful decision making with careful and timely execution
Experience in organizational environments using influence over authority to build consensus among diverse stakeholders
Prior experience with a large multinational law firm and/or in-house legal department
A strong educational background including a B.A./B.S. and J.D. from an accredited law school
Admittance to at least one state bar with a preference for the following: NY, TX or CA
