Responsibilities
Carry out psychiatric examinations and assessments
Make diagnoses
Write physician’s orders
Determine the need for and carry out consultations with external psychiatric personnel
Educate patients individually
Participate with other clinical staff on the treatment team
Respond to psychiatric emergencies
Carry out discharge planning and post discharge referral
Carry out quality improvement activities
May supervise a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry
Other job-related tasks as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must possess a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State
Certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for Psychiatrist 2
Completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for Psychiatrist 1
Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs
Computer skills are required
Flexibility to assist at other ATCs within the region as needed
Mandatory overtime (MOT) is a requirement of this position
