Director of Engineering - Solar Distributed Generation

The Director of Engineering will oversee all engineering activities, ensuring successful project design, development, and implementation while providing technical support and fostering stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities
Oversee the design of solar distributed generation projects from concept to completion
Manage the accurate and timely execution of system designs, technical reviews and risk assessments
Effectively manage & coordinate multiple providers of Engineering Services
Ensure projects meet all the company’s quality and safety standards
Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team and other departments
Stay in tune with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation
Provide technical support during client meetings and presentations
Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, methodologies, and tools
Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality in engineering operations
Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including design standards, specifications, and procedures
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory authorities
Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement with internal stakeholders (Origination, Development, Construction and Asset Management)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of experience in energy industry, with at least 5 years in the solar industry
Strong knowledge of solar PV system design, energy storage solutions, and grid integration
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to think strategically and solve complex technical problems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to be self-motivated
Strong Interpersonal and teamwork skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
Preferred
Master's degree
Professional Engineer (PE) license
