Start in 2026Braun Intertec Corporation, a leader in engineering and environment consulting, is seeking civil/geo engineering students for a 3-month Internship within our geotechnical engineering department. The student will perform engineering-related field and office duties, including conducting field tests and assisting with construction materials testing projects.
Consulting
Responsibilities
Perform and observe engineering field tests, including but not limited to double-ring infiltrometer, PDA, and pressure meter testing. Following testing analysis of the test results, engineering calculations and report preparation may be performed
Observe construction of various components including rammed aggregate piers, helical anchor, sheet piles, etc for conformance with project documents
Performs visual and manual classification of soil samples to aid in preparation of soil boring logs
Develop scopes of work and manage construction materials testing projects
Mentoring from a licensed engineer and practical engineering experience to develop your professional skills
Performs construction materials testing as requested by the engineering department to support field service operations or engineering evaluations. The testing could include soil density or concrete testing, and excavation observations
Assist with the installation and monitoring of in-situ geotechnical instrumentation
Learn procedures and gain exposure to ASTM, AASHTO, ICC and DOT standards
Add to your professional résumé with experience and references from a well-respected engineering consulting firm
Gain experience in writing proposal and reports
Qualification
Required
Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
Willing to travel up to 50% and overnight
Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary
College student working toward civil engineering
Preferred
Some related work experience preferred, but will train top applicants
