They are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator responsible for developing best practices for database deployment, managing operational activities, and maintaining high transaction PostgreSQL databases in cloud installations.

Responsibilities

Provision PostgreSQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
Implement, and maintain replication strategies
Analyze performance and implement improvements
Prepare documentations and specifications
Experience in database software management (patch and version management)
Handle common database procedures, such as backup, recovery, migration, etc
Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
Write scripts to generate adhoc reports, perform data audits, etc using bash or Python
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
24/7 Support of production databases

Required

Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL database management and optimization
Experience managing large scale PostgreSQL databases
Understanding of PostgreSQL user access and authentication processes and controls
Experience with replication configuration in PostgreSQL
Hands on experience with designing and implementing database replication strategies
Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in PostgreSQL
Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
Knowledge of PostgreSQL features, such as pgagent or pgbouncer
Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
Knowledge of limitations in PostgreSQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
Experience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux
Able to work under pressure and multi-task
Pro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible

Preferred

Experience managing MySQL or SQL Server
Ubuntu System Administration
Experience with Redis
Experience with Zabbix
Experience with RabbitMQ
Industry experience - either in iLottery or iGaming
