Radiology Tech

WhidbeyHealth is a healthcare provider seeking a Radiology Tech to perform radiographic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. The role involves maintaining patient care standards, operating radiographic equipment, and assisting physicians, while ensuring safety and quality in diagnostic imaging.

Responsibilities

Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for patients and personnel. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients and personnel who may be under physical or emotional stress, and gather and exchange patient information with nursing personnel and physicians
Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards
Selects and operates equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis
Selects and loads proper film cassettes, using film markers correctly and consistently
Has film developed either by darkroom personnel or self, as required
Assists physicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering opaque media, assisting in sterile procedures, and other related duties as required. Assists in performing first aid within their scope of knowledge
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination-free condition of rooms, equipment and personnel
Secures and returns supplies
Reports equipment failure to supervisor using proper forms and maintaining appropriate records
Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures. In the absence of the manager or lead technologist, may be designated as acting supervisor
May be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the Radiologic Technology student program and ancillary personnel
Cooperates with all department personnel in a positive and professional manner. Maintains a positive and loyal attitude towards employer
Serves on specific committees dealing with the use of radiation as requested
May be required to assist in the development of technical factors and film selection
May assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught
Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary
Rotates within the department, works various shifts as required
Maintains professional appearance by adhering to Dress and Grooming Policy and Dress Code of Diagnostic Imaging Services
Takes advantage of opportunities for continuing education as provided by the department or seminars available for the various specialties, cross-training in specialized areas
Adheres to prescribed standards for Radiation Safety
Handles equipment in a responsible, professional manner
Maintains patient records
Ensures patient safety, privacy and dignity to the greatest extent possible

Required

High school graduate
ARRT (R) registered
Licensed by Washington State
Must be competent in all routine diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to: Routine, Fluoroscopic, OR, Trauma, Portable radiographs or fluoroscopy; limited specials such as Myelograms, Venograms, arthrograms, and IVP's
