Diagnostic Imaging Technologist II - Mammography
NEOGOV is part of the County of Santa Clara, which provides healthcare services across the community. They are seeking a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist II - Mammography to perform specialized imaging procedures and mammography in various clinical settings to aid in medical diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities
Performs standard and complex mammography procedures
Correctly obtains and identifies images and manipulates and sends images via the Picture Archive Communication System (PACS) network
Operates and trouble-shoots equipment, as necessary
May perform routine administrative tasks
Assists the physician in administering medications during special procedure exams
Operates a variety of imaging and fluoroscopic equipment in performing a variety of imaging examinations independently
Performs imaging procedures in the Operating Room, Trauma, Burn, Intensive Care, or other units in the hospital and outlying clinics
Instructs, prepares, and positions patient and equipment for imaging procedure
Computes relevant factors, selects a technique appropriate to the particular exam being performed, adjusts the equipment, and obtains images as instructed
Tracks each procedure and associated supplies via the hospital information system
Assists physician during imaging procedures
Assists in training student technologists and radiology residents
Cleans and re-stocks procedure rooms and ancillary areas and maintains proper inventory levels
May transport patients to and from the department
Reviews the images, including technique, positioning, and identification (patient identification, left/right, body part, etc.)
Performs other assigned imaging procedures
Adheres to all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, including Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW), as required
Performs other related duties, as required
Qualification
Required
Possess and maintain, in good standing and without restrictions, a license issued by the State of California to practice as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
Possess and maintain, in good standing and without restrictions, a California Fluoroscopy license
Possess and maintain, in good standing and without restrictions, a California Mammographic Radiologic Technology certificate
Upon appointment, obtain a Basic Life Saving Certification (BLS), in good standing, once obtained, possess and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this classification
Ability to travel to alternate locations in the course of work. If driving, possession of a valid California driver's license prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County driver authorization
Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the ability to perform the above tasks, plus the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities
One (1) year of full-time experience as a diagnostic imaging technologist, including demonstrated competence in the performance of mammography equivalent to the Diagnostic Imaging Technologist I – Mammography level
Knowledge of imaging processes, mammography and fluoroscopic techniques, methods, and equipment
Knowledge of specialized diagnostic imaging principles, techniques, methods, and equipment relative to complex procedures
Knowledge of safe operation and care of imaging equipment
Knowledge of structural and organic anatomy
Knowledge of methods of positioning patients for standard and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures
Knowledge of principles of radiation physics
Knowledge of principles of image processing and development
Knowledge of English usage, style, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Knowledge of common computer systems and applications
Ability to perform complex diagnostic imaging procedures
Ability to accurately bill complex procedures and supplies in a timely fashion
Ability to provide safe and appropriate care to all patients, even in stressful situations
Ability to troubleshoot, document, and communicate equipment problems
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Ability to work quickly and efficiently in stressful situations
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain clinical competency and adapt to changing situations
Ability to train new and less experienced staff
Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and other safety communications
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, at all levels, including colleagues, the public, and representatives of other agencies
Stand and sit for long periods of time and exercise a moderate amount of physical exertion, stamina, and manual dexterity in the handling of patients and equipment
Assist, support, lift, and transfer patients in a safe manner
