Engineer (Mechanical, Systems, Controls)

As a Senior Engineer, you will design and build mechanical and control systems for electrochemical technology, driving the development of scalable solutions and collaborating with various teams to achieve project milestones.

Responsibilities
Leading the design, building, testing and integration of system components such as mineral reaction chambers to create a high integrity and commercially viable unit
Conducting computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling to test system designs as an integral part of the prototyping process
Designing, building, and programming an automated flow control system
Collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors
Spearheading the diagnosis and resolution of problems related to scaling up and integrating the electrochemical system with existing infrastructure
Techno-economical tradeoff analyses and commercial scaling strategy
Clear communication and collaboration with team members to achieve critical milestones
Qualification
Required
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
3+ years of experience in industry
Comfortable with machining, casting, 3D printing, and additive manufacturing
Highly proficient in SolidWorks; SolidWorks FlowSim or equivalent
Experience working with flow control or water treatment systems, working with programmable logic units and controllers, or similar
Strong problem solving skills and taking initiative to overcome obstacles
Creative thinking and ability to navigate ambiguity
Confidence and skills in building and prototyping
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of collaboration across disciplines
Ability to travel to pilot sites and partner facilities as needed
Preferred
Experience working on electrochemical systems, chemical reactors, batteries or controlled fluid systems
Experience with designing for use in marine systems, industrial chemical processes, or chemically corrosive environments
Ability to receive feedback, learn from it, pivoting as needed
Collaborative Spirit: You're open to brainstorming and helping others get unstuck
