Junior Accountant

Responsibilities

Accurately create new vendors as needed
Acts as backup for check runs, which includes printing checks, collating documentation, securing signatures on checks, and mailing them in accordance with policy
Professionally manage the internal Accounts Payable inbox and provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders, such as finance, accounting, compliance, HR, IT, audit, and vendors via email and telephone
Maintain organized digital and physical records of invoices, payments, and related documentation for audit and reference purposes
Identify and suggest opportunities to streamline accounts payable processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce errors through automation and other improvements
Review operations employee timecards for completeness, communicate with employees directly regarding missing time, and work closely with operations leads to obtain approval for the time employees enter
Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
Support month-end closing procedures, including preparing and uploading monthly journal entries, analysis, adjustments, and account reconciliations
Shows attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work
The ability to create reports as needed to provide metrics and to assist in enforcing adherence to internal policies

Required

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related fields
2-4 years experience in accounting, finance, or accounts payable
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Intermediate proficiency in Excel including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and combining formulas
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
High attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness, with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to generate and interpret data and reports
Team player, able to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
Strong work ethic and enthusiasm
Eagerness to learn and curiosity to ask questions
