Responsibilities
Characterization of subcomponents of optical transmitters, optical receivers used in parallel opto-electronic interfaces (Light emitting diodes (LEDs) and Photodetectors (PDs))
Work with the epitaxial development group to characterize the bandgap structure of LEDs, modulation speed, efficiency using various methods (spectroscopy, S21 measurement, SIMS, FIB, SEM, etc..)
Test photo detectors and extract the relevant parameters and provide feedback for the PD developers
Maintain and improve opto-electronic test systems for full characterization of optical sub-components and modules
Run link DOEs for sub-component development
Qualification
Required
MS or PhD in electrical engineering or physics with 2+ years of experience
Understanding of solid-state physics and physical principles behind LEDs PDs design and critical parameters of the transceiver system design based on LEDs and PDs
Experience with LED/PD characterization
Understanding of Optics
Preferred
Being able to execute DOEs, targeted to improve the performance of sub-components. Provide clear/ concise data summary and conclusions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of high-speed test instruments such as VNAs, sampling and real time oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, optical spectrometers
Hands-on lab experience especially with probed/free space coupled (using stages) optical systems
