Operations Manager - Civil Engineering Construction

The Operations Manager will oversee operational activities in the DMV region, focusing on managing project staff, ensuring efficient completion of construction projects, and introducing best practices to improve operational processes.
Construction
Responsibilities
Development and approval of project execution plans for a variety of heavy civil project
Development and approval of project budgets, forecasting and associated cost reports
Development and negotiation of contracts with project clients, vendors and subcontractors
Development, approval and monitoring of project schedules
Management and completion of claims and any associated legal proceedings with respect to contracts disputes
Overall management of staff and resource planning related to project execution
Formulate and implement operational strategy
Coordinate with other departments to effectively implement strategy
Ensure all operations are carried efficiently, timely and within budget
Analyze and improve operational systems and processes
Improve and implement various operations related programs, including training and development, performance management
Manage day to day operational activities
Develop and deliver operational recruitment strategy
Conducting interviews with prospective candidates for the operational positions
Ensure legal compliance of operational processes and programs
Lead, support, and mentor project staff
Work closely with management team
Participate in management meetings to contribute to strategic planning and provide strategic solutions to operational issues
Qualification
Required
Diploma in Civil Engineering, Operations or Project Management or relevant area / combination with experience
10+ years of progressive experience in management
Certification as a PMI, PE, PMP will be advantageous
Experience in schedule planning, budgeting, company operations
In-depth knowledge of the scope of projects within the industry
Knowledge of financial and business management
Strong experience in the Mid-Atlantic
Teamwork

Up to 50 hours a week based on project requirements
Clear driving record / own vehicle
Frequent travel to various construction sites across the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia
Preferred
Knowledge of French (speaking and writing)
