METEOROLOGIST - WALA

Responsibilities

Analyze weather data and prepare detailed and engaging weather forecasts
Generate creative and engaging, content-driven live shots
Familiarity with the WSI weather system and software is a plus
Ability to drive long-form severe weather/event coverage solo or in a team setting, both in the studio and in the field
Ability to multi-task, handle breaking news and breaking weather, and adapt to rapidly changing events
Cover other meteorologists' shifts as assigned, as well as flexibility to cover shifts during severe weather or other breaking news events
Post daily stories to our digital platforms and social media, including online weather discussions to explain complex weather phenomena in an easy-to-understand format
Be actively involved on the station's social media platforms and responsive to viewer inquiries
Work closely with the Chief Meteorologist, news management, and newscast producers

Required

Previous On-air experience required
BS in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science
An engaging and comfortable on-air personality
Ability to use judgment to prioritize tasks and assignments
Ability to communicate effectively with newsroom managers, producers, and co-workers
Ability to report and forecast weather accurately and creatively under deadline pressure
Ability to drive long-form severe weather/event coverage solo or in a team setting, both in the studio and in the field
Ability to multi-task, handle breaking news and breaking weather, and adapt to rapidly changing events
Cover other meteorologists' shifts as assigned, as well as flexibility to cover shifts during severe weather or other breaking news events

Preferred

Seals of the National Weather Association and/or American Meteorological Society are preferred
