Responsibilities
Performs routine, sleep and portable EEG studies as well as cerebral death studies on adult, neonatal and pediatric patients according to the policies and procedures of the EEG lab
Ensures quality patient care is provided within the defined area of accountability of doing EEG procedures
Distributes EEG reports to inpatients’ charts, faxes outpatient reports to the ordering physician; maintains copy of all reports in files and on computer networks and hard drives
Communicates with responsible neurologist regarding all ordered and requested EEGs. Informs Neurologist when testing is completed. Assists neurologist with interpretation related duties
Serves as a liaison for Cardiopulmonary Dept. to promote physician, interdepartmental and intra departmental relationships
Assures all EEG reports are available for the physician to read on a daily basis
Assures customer services to include; respect, courtesy, compassion and confidentiality
Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate patient education documentation modality
Actively participates in continuing education within the field of Neurology/EEG
Qualification
Required
High School Graduate / GED
Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Graduate of EEG program or 3 years' experience as an EEG Technologist or facility based training program
EEG certification obtained with 24 months of hire
Preferred
Minimum of 1-year experience as EEG technologist preferred
Two years' experience with adult patients as EEG Technologist with completion of EEG Technology Program preferred
Registered EEG technologist preferred
