Associate Electrical Engineer

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices. They are seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to design and test electrical harnesses for satellites and ground support equipment, working closely with senior engineers on innovative aerospace projects.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineering teams to design, test, and support the integration of electrical harnesses for spacecraft and ground systems
Create detailed electrical schematics, select wiring, connectors, back shells, and other harness components, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards
Develop and execute test plans to verify functionality, reliability, and performance of electrical harness systems
Conduct thorough testing and validation procedures, analyze test data, and troubleshoot issues to meet design requirements
Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including interface control documents, system schematics, block diagrams, harness drawings, and installation procedures
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (power, RF, command and data handling, and other subsystems) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems

Required

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
A minimum of 0–2 years of industry experience or recent graduate with hands-on project experience
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to think critically, propose creative solutions, and adapt to evolving project requirements
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and design
Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods
Occasional hands-on work with hardware in lab environments

Preferred

Knowledge of space environment and industry standards
Understanding of harness design principles, cable routing, shielding, and EMI/EMC considerations
Proficiency in CAD software for harness design (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, CATIA, Mentor Graphics)
Experience with electrical simulation and analysis tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB)
Prior experience in electrical harness design through internships, co-op programs, or academic projects related to aerospace engineering
