College/Student Intern (Paid/Unpaid)
NEOGOV is offering a College/Student Intern position to provide university and high school students with hands-on experience in various public sector careers. This role involves assisting with administrative and professional assignments while gaining practical skills relevant to their studies.

Responsibilities
Students will receive exposure to public sector careers in healthcare, mental health, social services, finance, administration, human resources, law, agriculture, information technology, construction, and engineering at the local government level while training them for skilled, professional and administrative careers through the practical application of courses being studied
Participants in this program will be given defined projects at their assigned County department with a defined timeframe for their completion
The work of interns is intended to supplement - not supplant - the work that would be done by a regular County employee
Assignments and duties vary widely based on the training assignment and department needs
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited school program, or graduated from an accredited school program no more than twelve (12) months prior to the intern appointment date
A Junior or Senior level high school student may be considered for an intern position, but must obtain a Student Work Permit prior to appointment
Proof of current student status or recent degree obtainment must remain on file with the Human Resources Department
If applicable, a Student Work Permit must also remain on file with the Human Resources Department
Proof of student status must be a copy of a student I.D. card showing the current enrollment, a copy of a registration receipt showing the current quarter/semester date, or a diploma or certificate demonstrating program completion
May need to possess a valid driver's license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles as required by the position
Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; arithmetic and basic mathematical calculations
Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
Knowledge of basic principles and practices used in the work of subject area to which assigned
Ability to interact with members of the public
Ability to research requests for information
Ability to learn a variety of administrative and professional tasks
Ability to prepare and write reports
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Ability to perform related duties as assigned
