Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer
USAJOBS is seeking a Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer to advise the Chief Administrative Officer and senior leadership on the safe and effective use of artificial intelligence. The incumbent will establish AI governance, advocate for responsible AI adoption, and manage associated teams and compliance processes.

Responsibilities
Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assigns duties and evaluates performance
Demonstrates skill in developing and delivering oral and written presentations as well as making recommendations on management issues in concise and convincing language
Coordinates agency use of AI. Serves as Senior Advisor. Maintains awareness using AOC AI Use Case Repository. Develops compliance plan. Develops and manages an AI foundation model and strategic plan that aligns with the agency’s digital transformation roadmap and business goals
Develop CAO Data Governance strategy and execution plan to ensure alignment between data stewardship, analytics and AI capabilities
Develops, updates and maintains AOC AI policy. Develops, as appropriate, AI-enabling enterprise infrastructure, Cybersecurity safeguards, workforce development measures, test case development, training, metric development, policy, and other resources to promote AI innovation
Develops and promotes responsible AI innovation across AOC organization
Identifies and prioritizes appropriate use of AI projects, technology platforms/tools, and prototypes. Identifies and removes barriers to AI-enabled infrastructure, workforce, policy, etc
Advocates the opportunities and benefits of AI to the AOC mission. Advances AOC objective to increase the use of data, analytics, and AI in improving the quality and efficiency of decision making at all levels
Identifies and manages the variety of risks that AI presents to Federal agencies
Works with senior leaders on processes, measures and evaluations of AI projects
Oversees agency compliance with AI policy. Conducts risk assessments that leverage the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and identifies appropriate mitigation strategies
Qualification
Required
You must be a U.S. Citizen
You must meet the definition of specialized experience
You must be able to pass a drug test
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
To be creditable, candidates must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service OR equivalent level in the private sector, military or other
Leading and managing efforts involving AI or IT committees, working groups, budget and workload
Demonstrating critical AI or IT experience with the ability to identify and mitigate risks
Developing and managing an AI or IT foundation model and strategic plan
Providing administrative and technical leadership or supervision of subordinate staff
Establishing and integrating performance measurement processes into the operations of the organization, continuous improvement, and quality services
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations
Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information
Problem-Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations
Preferred
A degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred
