Safety Compliance Coordinator

Astrion is seeking a Safety Compliance Coordinator to support the Army Division on the WSMR Mission Support Services program. The role involves managing and performing work related to environmental protection and workplace safety, ensuring compliance with laws, overseeing safety programs, and conducting inspections and training efforts.

Responsibilities

Ensure contractor adherence to environmental regulations
Manage Satellite Accumulation Points (SAPs)
Oversee MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) control for all materials
Enforce proper handling and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols for hazardous materials
Ensure all licenses, permits, certificates, and related approvals are obtained and up to date
Maintain thorough records of all required documentation
Conduct and document risk assessments
Establish and maintain operational records and filing systems
Inspect facilities, work areas, and equipment regularly
Monitor site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health and safety regulations
Identify hazards and implement corrective actions, verifying follow-through
Provide safety training on various topics to all personnel
Support supervisors in accident investigations and recurrence prevention
Manage accident case files and participate in investigation processes
Regular travel throughout: White Sands Missile Range (North, Central, and South Ranges), Holloman Air Force Base, Holloman High Speed Test Track

Required

Associate's Degree and 3+ years of progressive experience in safety/environmental compliance
Candidates without a degree and who possess 5+ years of progressive experience in the specialty field will also be considered
Training in safety/environmental courses, seminars, or certifications - i.e. OSHA 10 and 30 General and Construction, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both government and contract personnel
Capable of delivering presentations and training sessions to groups
In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations
In-depth knowledge of state and federal environmental and safety requirements
In-depth knowledge of White Sands Missile Range and Holloman AFB protocols
Valid driver's license
Must possess active Secret clearance
