Responsibilities

Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Evaluate new and renewal property and casualty submissions. Analyze policy forms, endorsements, and supporting documentation in line with company guidelines. Junior team members will receive training and mentorship to develop these skills
Decision-Making: Determine risk acceptability, pricing, and coverage terms based on factors such as location, usage, safety features, and exposure. Senior underwriters may handle complex risks and provide guidance to junior staff
Portfolio Management: Manage assigned accounts to ensure profitability and compliance. Contribute to business planning and forecasting. Entry-level candidates will support these efforts while building their technical knowledge
Broker & Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients. Collaborate across teams to ensure timely and accurate service delivery. All team members are expected to contribute to a positive client experience
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure underwriting practices align with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation
Market Awareness & Development: Stay informed on industry trends, emerging risks, and market dynamics. Participate in training, seminars, and marketing activities. Senior underwriters may represent the company at industry events

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Risk Management, Business, Actuarial Science, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered
Trainee/Associate Level: Internship or academic exposure to insurance or risk management
Mid-Level: 2–5 years of underwriting experience in property and casualty
Senior Level: 5+ years of experience with a strong track record in E&S underwriting and portfolio management
Must meet state requirements for P&C and/or surplus lines licenses (or be willing to obtain)

Preferred

CPCU or other industry certifications are a plus, especially for senior roles
