Measures the patient's head and attaches electrodes in accordance with the 10/20 international electrode placement system as evidenced by manager observations. Tests functional integrity of electrodes and assures acceptable electrode impedances
Obtains a complete and relevant patient history to include medications as evidenced by departmental documentation tools. Observes all patient safety measures, assuring side-rails on stretchers are upright and locked, except when transferring the patient, all wheelchair and stretcher wheels are locked and patients are under direct supervision by staff at all times as evidenced by manager observation and safety protocols
Removes all electrolyte/gel/collodian and cleans patient's scalp safely and thoroughly at the end of the testing. Logs and submits charges for all studies immediately upon completion in accordance with department policy and procedure. Utilizes appropriate infection control measures to ensure thorough cleansing of electrodes and other recording accessories as evidenced by equipment inspection
Prepares and provides an accurate technical report for the interpreting physician on all studies completed. Performs bio-calibration before and after each EEG study and records all montages in accordance with department policy and procedure as evidenced by the recordings. Performs applicable activation procedures and additional or special investigative montages as directed and/or in accordance with department policy and procedure
Transfers all studies upon completion via the network connection from the collection units (EEG, Ambulatory Reader) to the reader station and verifies transfer in accordance with department policy and procedure. Logs and submits charges on all completed studies immediately upon completion in accordance with department policy and procedure as evidenced by reporting systems
Measures accurately scalp and applicable electrode sites and applies all necessary recording electrodes to obtain a VEP, BAER, SSEP and ATC and ensures acceptable impedance under 3 K-Ohms. Obtains interpretable, replicable waveforms for a VEP, BAER, SSEP and ATC. Obtains additional or prolonged sampling in order to obtain desired outcome
Superimposes accurately all applicable recorded waveforms and measures/tags all replicable peaks in order to obtain absolute and interpeak latencies. Completes accurately and consistently all prerequisite test screening procedures prior to initiating examination as evidenced by documentation of visual acuity for VEP, auditory thresholds for BAEP and obtaining a visible thumb or toe twitch for SSEPs
Logs and submits charges on all completed studies immediately upon completion in accordance with departmental policy and procedure as evidenced by reporting systems. Cleans safely and thoroughly all electrolyte from the patients skin surface and/or scalp. Ensures safe and thorough cleaning of all recording apparatus, including electrodes in accordance with department policy and procedure as evidenced by manager observation
Obtains a complete and relevant patient history to include medications, seizure history, frequency, auras or prodromes, family history and an accurate description of events as described by a caregiver, family member, the patient or physician
Measures the patient's head and attaches electrodes in accordance with the 10/20 international electrode placement system as evidenced by manager observations. Tests functional integrity of electrodes and assures acceptable electrode impedances. Obtains appropriate electrode impedances and baseline EEG data as evidenced by impedance check and quality of EEG recording
Ensures adequate disk space for five or more days of continuous recorded video EEG and ensures spike detection software is activated and archive feature is on when study is initiated as evidenced by successful recording with no error messages and a complete recording. Ensures successful ongoing data transfer (cascade) from collector to reader station of video EEG in hour-long segments in twenty four hour cycles as evidenced by reader station database
Views all cascaded files, strips segments of baseline, routine and abnormal digital video EEG phenomena, creates linked or stripped files and successfully transfers files to reader station for physician review. Initiates all activation procedures as directed by physician by review of written orders and recordings
Removes all electrolyte and adhesive from the patient's scalp, face and all other applicable areas at termination of recording, completely and safely. Provides patient education regarding the use of adhesive removal materials
Archives all completed/interpreted LTM studies on CD(s) and places in secure patient file storage; deletes all unnecessary video/EEG data from collectors and reader station as evidenced by system databases. Logs patient's LTM admission as evidenced by LTM log and HBO GUI admission record. Logs and charges patient's LTM admissions
Performs accurate, interpretable special EEG, Evoked Potential procedures in the O.R. or Video EEG procedures including infant/newborn studies and the use of NP leads, when applicable or as directed by a physician. Obtains a complete and relevant clinical history and uses appropriate testing parameters in order to obtain relevant diagnostic information. Applies all relevant electrodes in accordance with the 10/20 international electrode placement system. Selects appropriate testing parameters to obtain clearer or more accurate test results. Prints or transfers all relevant data upon completion of testing, prepares all necessary forms/documents and routes studies for interpretation by a physician
